During our sessions together ask questions!
If you have a question, I’m sure someone else has that same question!
During my time in retail people have asked me many questions and I have compiled many of them into 3 categories. The categories are health, self, and relationships!
Has Anyone seen the movie Limitless??!!
Today’s topic brain enhancing drugs are quite interesting, and while working in retail I fill about 5-10 prescriptions per day on average.
The BEDs I am referring too are the kinds adults use for increasing their productivity, clarity, and ability to focus. While in retail I fill about 5-10 prescriptions per day on average.
In children ADHD (hyperactivity disorder), is one of the most common psychological disorder.
The pathophysiology (how it is caused) is supposedly related to response inhibition. Response inhibition helps with behavior control, resisting distractions, time awareness.
Drugs or Treatments that manipulate dopamine and norepinephrine are most effective.
The drugs cause more norepinephrine and dopamine to be released in the prefrontal cortex.
We will limit our discussion too, adult stimulants and nootropics.
Adult Stimulants fall under the categories of amphetamines and methylphenidates. In adults, they are purported to increase attention and increase focus time in adults.
All drugs come with side effects.
Side effects include reduced appetite, irritability, sleep issues, headaches, increased blood pressure.
Stimulants are Category 2 – highly regulated, high potential for abuse, and dependency.
Nootropics are also synthetic compounds that are purported to improve the cognitive abilities of individuals. They are mostly used for increased motivation and concentration.
On the nootropic website, it states that any substance can be called a nootropic if it:
Nootropics are said to provide a controlled peak of sustained mental performance.
I read on Google that:
“Nootropics are a powerful tool for assisting and enhancing your social abilities, best treated as part of a rounded strategy of self-improvement”.
With no disclaimer….
***************Red Flags*******************
This sounded to good to be true, when something sounds to good to be true, it probably is…
I went to the best resource…that I always go to… The CDC….Nothing
Every person is different. Drugs react differently in people differently.
Not sure if they’re safe, but 2 Phocus points I do know:
If you’re going to take some cognitive enhancing drug and that’s what it is….
"Until tomorrow, self-love yourself, what is more important than you?!"
